These grants were awarded in the spirit of carrying out UPERDFI\u2019s goal of promoting projects with societal impact and nurture future engineers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eee.upd.edu.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/UPERDFI-Grant-Awarding-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7418\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>According to UPERDFI, the projects were selected based on the relevance, novelty or innovativeness, and sustainability. The startup project entitled \u2018AAClatan \u2013 a Tagalog-focused Augmentative and Alternative (AAC) app\u2019 of Mr. Alfred Abanto, a BS Computer Engineering student, together with Ellyn Cassey Chua received the startup grant from UPERDFI. The following student projects from EEEI also received the student prototyping grants: Marissa Munar and Sheryl Diokno\u2019s \u2018Electrification of Boats for Small-Scale Rural Fishing,\u2019 with adviser Dr. Lew Andrew Tria; Hazel Mae Gadiaza, Abdul Azis Agantal, Wynne Angelo Arcilla, and Francis Glenn Hernandez\u2019 \u2018Design and Implementation of a oneM2M-based Remote Monitoring System for Water Distribution Networks Using Wireless Sensor Nodes,\u2019 from SSL with adviser Dr. Jaybie De Guzman; and Charlene Flores and Ron Louis Nierva\u2019s \u2018OpenBCI Signal Acquisition System,\u2019 with advisers Dr. John Richard Hizon, Dr. Marc Rosales, Dr. Paul Jason Co, Dr. Carl Timothy Tolentino, and Luigi Teola.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eee.upd.edu.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/UPERDFI-Grant-Awarding-2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7419\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eee.upd.edu.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/UPERDFI-Grant-Awarding-5-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7421\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eee.upd.edu.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/UPERDFI-Grant-Awarding-4-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7422\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eee.upd.edu.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/UPERDFI-Grant-Awarding-3-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7420\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The ceremony was held at the UP College of Engineering Melchor Hall Maynilad Room.
